An OPG (Orthopantomagram) is a panoramic X-ray of the upper and lower jaws that scans from side to side. It is also sometimes called Orthopantomagraph or Panorex, which are brand names. It looks like a flattened view of a half-circle from ear to ear. With panoramic x-rays, pictures can be taken from different angles and then put together to make a single picture that shows both the upper and lower jaws. Structures that can’t be seen are blurry. During your dental care, your dentist will likely take an OPG.
